Reproduction of Fine Details and Compatibility of Vinyl Polysiloxane Impression Materials

The purpose of this study was to develop novel experimental (Exp) vinyl polysiloxane (VPS) impression materials (ab initio) and evaluate their reproduction fine details compatibility with pouring materials. Exp were compared three commercial VPSs (Aquasil Ultra Monophase (Aq M), Extrude Medium-Bodied (Extr Elite HD (Elt M)) under dry, moist wet conditions. Five (Exp-I–V) developed, out which Exp-I II hydrophobic while Exp-III, IV V hydrophilic. In the current study, Exp-II is control for V. Exp-II, in tear strength VPS improved by adding a cross-linking agent. This part has already been published authors. Under dry conditions, all reproduced 20 µm line satisfactorily. some (III, V) satisfactorily, exception II. Aq M, Extr M Exp-IV continuous line, Elt Exp-I, III failed produce line. For compatibility, VPSs, 50 on cast. did not record µm, Performance depends type amount surfactant incorporated. These data provide useful knowledge clinicians recording impressions greater accuracy cast/die
